SANTA CLARA, calif. – Matthew Muller, the man who orchestrated a widely publicized kidnapping in Northern California that drew comparisons to the novel and film “Gone Girl,” now faces charges in two additional home invasion sexual assaults.Prosecutors announced Monday that Muller, 47, is accused of attacking two women in their 30s in separate incidents in 2009. In both cases, Muller allegedly broke into the women’s homes in Mountain View and Palo Alto, California, tied them up, and forced them to ingest medication. He threatened sexual assault but was ultimately dissuaded by his victims.
“The details of this person’s violent crime spree seem scripted for Hollywood, but they are tragically real,” said District Attorney Jeff Rosen. “Our goal is to make sure this defendant is held accountable and will never hurt or terrorize anyone ever again. Our hope is that this nightmare is over.”
These new charges stem from DNA evidence found on restraints used in one of the 2009 attacks. The DNA matched Muller’s profile, leading to the charges.
A History of Violence
Muller is currently serving a 40-year prison sentence for the 2015 kidnapping of Denise Huskins. He pleaded guilty to that crime, which involved a complex scheme that included a ransom demand and a staged abduction.
Huskins’ case garnered national attention after Vallejo police initially dismissed her claims as a hoax, drawing comparisons to the fictional “Gone girl” narrative.
Seeking Justice
If convicted on the new charges, Muller could face an additional life sentence. Muller’s attorney, Agustin Arias, declined to comment on the new charges.
The news of Muller’s alleged crimes has sent shockwaves through the community. Many are left wondering how one individual could be capable of such a disturbing pattern of violence.
“Its just hard to believe someone could be capable of this kind of violence,” said Mark,a local resident. “It really is like something out of a movie.”
The District Attorney’s office is committed to ensuring justice is served for all of muller’s alleged victims.
Chilling Echoes: A Home Invasion Horror
Sarah: Did you here about that Matthew Muller guy? They’re saying he might have been responsible for even more home invasions before that whole “Gone Girl” kidnapping thing.
Tom: Wait, you mean the guy who kidnapped that Denise Huskins woman back in 2015? The one the police thought was making it all up at first?
Sarah: Yeah, that one. Apparently, they found DNA evidence that links him to two other cases from 2009. Can you believe it?
Tom: No way! What were those cases about?
Sarah: It’s pretty horrifying.he allegedly broke into the homes of two women in thier thirties, tied them up, and forced them to take some kind of medication. They said he threatened to assault them, but luckily, he didn’t go through with it.
Tom: That’s terrifying! I remember that Huskins case was crazy enough. To think he might have been doing this kind of stuff years before that…
Sarah: The District Attorney called it a “violent crime spree” – he said it was like something out of a movie, but tragically real.
Tom: They’ve got to put him away for good if they can prove he did it. What do they think will happen now?
Sarah: Well, he’s already serving 40 years for the Huskins kidnapping, so this could add a lot more time. Apparently, they’re looking at another life sentence if he’s convicted on these new charges.
Tom: Poor victims. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to know that monster might be walking around free for so long.
Sarah: It’s awful. I hope this brings them some closure, and that justice prevails. It sounds like this guy is a true menace to society.
