Google Chrome AI Mode Update: Persistent Chatbot Search Experience

Google’s latest update to AI Mode in Chrome aims to reduce the need for users to switch between tabs during online searches by keeping the chatbot-style search tool persistently available once a search journey begins.

The feature, described as Google’s most powerful AI search experience, allows users to ask complex questions and receive AI-powered responses with the ability to ask follow-up questions and access helpful web links without leaving the current tab.

AI Mode builds upon Google’s AI Overviews by dividing user queries into subtopics and searching for each simultaneously, enabling the system to explore the web more thoroughly and surface relevant content that matches the original question.

Responses generated by AI Mode are supported by high-quality web content from Google Search’s index, which improves factuality. However, when the system lacks sufficient confidence in the quality or helpfulness of an AI-generated response, it may instead provide a set of web links for users to explore manually.
