Google is expanding the availability of Personal Intelligence for Gemini users on a global scale. This feature allows the AI to integrate data from a wide array of first-party Google services to provide responses tailored to a user’s specific digital life without requiring explicit prompting for every request.
The rollout follows an initial launch earlier in 2026 and a subsequent expansion to free-tier users in the United States on March 17, 2026. The current global expansion makes the feature available to users worldwide, with the specific exception of European markets.
Integration Across the Google Ecosystem
Personal Intelligence functions by connecting various Google applications to create a holistic view of a user’s information. The system can access text, photos, and videos from Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and other Workspace apps, as well as Google Photos, YouTube, Search, Maps, and additional first-party services.

By analyzing usage history and previously shared content, Gemini can identify relevant data to address complex queries. For example, the system can identify a vehicle’s make and model through images in Google Photos to provide specific advice on tires based on the user’s travel needs.
Practical Use Cases and Functionality
The expansion introduces several specific capabilities designed to reduce the amount of manual input required from the user:
- Technical Troubleshooting: Users can receive debugging steps, such as factory resets or power cycling, tailored to the exact device model found in their purchase receipts, even if the user does not remember the specific product details.
- Tailored Shopping: The AI provides recommendations based on preferred brands, style, and recent purchases. This includes matching specific hardware details, such as suggesting purses with gold hardware to match recently purchased gold shoes.
- Travel and Itineraries: The system can generate custom itineraries based on a user’s unique interests and past favorites rather than generic lists. It can also manage tight schedules by accounting for food preferences, arrival and departure gates, and the walking time between them.
- Hobby Discovery: Gemini can suggest new activities, such as poetry, by recognizing a user’s existing interest in nature, and reading.
Deployment and User Control
The feature is being integrated across multiple touchpoints, including the Gemini app, Chrome, and AI Mode in Google Search. While the global rollout for paid users is underway, Google has indicated that Personal Intelligence for free Gemini users globally is expected to arrive in the coming weeks following the April 14, 2026, announcement.
Regarding privacy and data management, Google states that users maintain control over which applications are connected. The settings allow users to turn specific app connections on or off at any time.
