The International Government Communication Forum, hosted by the Sharjah Government Media Office, will take place on September 10-11, 2024, at the Sharjah Expo Center.The forum centers around the theme “Communication for the Quality of Life,” bringing together international thinkers, innovators, and academics to explore solutions to critical challenges in education, innovation, food security, and sustainability.
The event will feature a comprehensive programme including dialog sessions, keynote speeches, and specialized workshops. Organizers anticipate participation from government leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world, utilizing 22 interactive platforms to foster collaboration.

This year’s forum will showcase three global case studies demonstrating how challenges can be transformed into opportunities through innovative approaches in education, artificial intelligence, and sustainable food systems.
William Kamakapba: From Famine to Innovation
Malawi William Kamakapba, an innovator and engineer, will deliver a speech titled “When Thought Becomes Energy for Change.” He will share his inspiring story of addressing famine in his village by constructing wind turbines using readily available tools.Kamakapba’s presentation will emphasize the power of supporting locally-driven creative solutions through strategic government communication to bolster food security and build resilient communities.
Professor Osama Khatib: The Future of Human-Centered AI
Professor Osama khatib, a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University and head of the World Android Research “IFRR” (and a recipient of the “Gap Arabs” award), will present “Code of New Life⦠Human Intelligence and Interactive Technology.” His presentation will explore the latest advancements in smart robotics and their potential to revolutionize sectors like healthcare and education. Professor Khatib will underscore the critical importance of embedding ethical considerations and human values into the design and development of these technologies.
Dr. Karan Rajan: Food Communication and the Protein Revolution
Dr. Karan Rajan, a surgeon with the British National Health Services Authority and lecturer at the University of Sunderland, will present on “food Communication and Protein Revolution⦠Where?” His presentation will likely address the challenges and opportunities surrounding food systems and protein sources.
