Governor Kathy Hochul reported on the wildfires in New York State. Multiple agencies are responding to fires in Orange and Ulster Counties. Over 400 fire departments and 1,300 firefighters have mobilized to control the situation. New York National Guard helicopters have conducted more than 550 water drops, using over 500,000 gallons of water.

Currently, six wildfires are burning across nearly 6,031 acres. The largest fire, at Jennings Creek/Sterling Forest State Park, has burned 5,304 acres. It is 90% contained. Since October 1, Forest Rangers have responded to 69 fires totaling over 6,300 acres.

- Limit outdoor time for children and pets.
A statewide burn ban is in effect until November 30. This ban includes prohibitions on outdoor fires, brush burning, and uncontained campfires. Contained cooking fires and small fire pits are allowed.
