On the 24th, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Governor Kim Jin-tae visited Gangneung-Wonju University, the athlete village restaurant of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games, to encourage officials and meet young athletes from all over the world.
There are a total of four restaurants in the Athletes Village: Gangneung Athletes Village, Pyeongchang Athletes Lounge, Jeongseon Athletes Village, and Hoengseong Welli Hilli Ara Hall. In Gangwon Province, in order to provide safe meals, the preservation status of food ingredients in the food distribution center of the athletes’ village restaurant, the expiration date, and the sanitary conditions of storage warehouses and transport vehicles are inspected every other day.
Governor Kim inspected the sanitary conditions in the athletes’ village restaurant, including checking the cooking process and controlling food ingredients, and asked officials to pay special attention to hygiene to prevent athletes from getting sick after eating the food.
Governor Kim said, “Diet is important for youth who participate in competitions to fully display their skills. We will do our best until the end to ensure that youth from all over the world can finish the competition in healthy and return home by managing a safe and tasty diet.”
