MANILA, PHILIPPINES — It’s “all systems go” on Monday when the House of Representatives starts its hearing on the proposed national budget bill for 2026, with four government agencies under the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) kicking off the deliberations.
The Department of Budget and Management, Department of Finance, the Department of Economy, Planning and Development, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas are under the DBCC.
“So on August 18, all systems go, full blast. We start with the DBCC,” said Nueva Ecija 1st District Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.
Suansing said the committee would have daily hearings “all the way through the week of September 16.” She said, “The only time that we are going to take a break is during the holidays.” “We will, though, carve out one day for what we call the People’s Budget Review. That is the engagement of the Committee on Appropriations with our civil society organizations and people’s organizations that I had committed. So we will give that day for the People’s Budget Review wherein they can lay out all their questions and their suggestions about our budget,” she said in Filipino and English.
