Grain corridor message from Fidan and Lavrov

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is on an official visit to Moscow, the capital of Russia, started his contacts. Fidan met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building. After posing for the press, the two ministers went to the meeting. Ministers speak at the joint press conference held after the meeting:

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: We made a detailed assessment on current regional issues. The normalization of Türkiye-Syria relations was discussed. Additional steps to be taken for Ankara and Damascus to re-establish diplomatic relations were discussed.

The normalization of relations between Armenia and Türkiye was also considered. According to the agreements reached between Armenia-Azerbaijan-Russia, post-conflict reconstruction was in question. Türkiye plays a positive role in this regard.

We also discussed the latest situation in Ukraine. Putin has made it clear many times. Measures will be taken to solve all problems, and we want unfulfilled obligations to be fulfilled. We appreciate the UN’s efforts.

We appreciate Turkey’s foreign policy approach. Western countries want to put them under suspicion. At the same time, we make long-term supplies and discounts on Russian energy resources.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan: I would like to express my gratitude for the solidarity shown by our Russian friends after the earthquake. Our relations with Russia have a long history. We are always in touch on bilateral and regional issues. Our dialogue is critical for our region.

It plays a critical role in our friendly relations between our President and Putin. The revitalization of the Black Sea initiative was our most important agenda item today. Russia has its own demand for the export of grain and fertilizer, we emphasized the importance of this again.

We want lasting peace in our region, I affirmed that we will give our best support. I said that our role as facilitator and mediator continues. Our Presidents will meet in Sochi soon. This meeting was a preparation for the meeting of our leaders. We made a general assessment.

We discussed what we can do to further our cooperation. We compared our perspectives in Syria, Africa and the Caucasus, which are important for our countries. Tomorrow I will meet with Mr. Shoigu.
