Graphene-Based Biosensors Offer Hope for Personalized Depression ⁢Treatment

Major ‍depressive disorder (MDD), a leading cause of⁤ disability worldwide, is characterized by symptoms such as loss of interest and depressed mood. Despite the availability of effective treatments,individual⁢ responses vary significantly. This necessitates the advancement of reliable, accessible predictors⁣ too inform treatment decisions.Currently, ⁣no tests can predict individual treatment responses using‍ biofluids⁣ like blood, serum, plasma, or saliva.

Researchers are now exploring the potential of graphene-based⁢ biosensors to address this critical need. Recent research on biomarkers for MDD provides an prospect ⁤to overcome the ‍limitations of conventional diagnostic tools. Graphene and its derivatives have proven to be excellent materials⁣ for designing sensitive electrochemical and electrical biosensing platforms.
