Green Shoots of Opportunity: Mauritania’s Groundbreaking Agricultural Project Unlocks 200 Jobs for Young Minds
Mauritania Launches Agricultural Project to Create 200 Job Opportunities
The government of Mauritania has announced a model project to create 200 job opportunities in the agricultural sector, aiming to integrate young graduates and empower them by exploiting a typical agricultural area estimated at 7 hectares for each certificate holder.
The project will focus on rice production in the regions of Arkez and Embakhjak, covering an area of 650 hectares. This initiative is expected to contribute to the creation of 200 permanent job opportunities, including 87 opportunities allocated to degree holders looking for work.
In addition to providing employment opportunities for degree holders, the project will also involve employing 174 local workers, at a rate of two workers for each treatment area. This will not only boost the local economy but also provide valuable work experience for the workers involved.
The project is designed to contribute to the integration of a new generation of young producers into the agricultural sector, while providing them with appropriate training and developing value chains related to the production, marketing, and transformation of agricultural products.
