Greta Thunberg Arrested at Pro-Palestinian Protest in London

London police arrested Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on tuesday, April 16, 2024, during a pro-Palestinian demonstration, according to Defend Our Juries, a UK-based campaign group.
Arrest Under Terrorism Act
Thunberg was arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 for displaying a sign expressing support for prisoners associated with Palestine Action. The British government has proscribed Palestine Action as a terrorist organization.Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000 prohibits displaying articles supporting proscribed organizations.
Police initially arrested two individuals for throwing red paint at a building.A City of London Police spokesperson stated that a 22-year-old woman, later identified as Thunberg, subsequently attended the scene and was then arrested for the placard offense.
Targeted Building and Elbit Systems
Defend Our Juries stated the targeted building housed an insurance firm providing services to Elbit Systems,the British branch of the Israeli defense company. Elbit Systems is a major supplier of military technology and equipment.
