Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey, a recent NBA All-Rookie Team selection, faces a setback. After re-spraining his left ankle in an offseason workout, Edey will undergo surgery. The procedure aims to stabilize the ankle, likely sidelining him at the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

As the ninth overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, Edey made an immediate impact. He led all rookies in field goal percentage (58%) and rebounds per game (8.3). he also ranked fourth in blocks and second in plus-minus (plus-164).
