A virtuous cycle has been established in which donated convenience store products lead to job creation for the disabled.

GS Retail and Milal Welfare Foundation Goodwill Store were held at the Goodwill Store Milal Songpa in Macheon-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 8th, with key officials from both companies, including Kim Myeong-jong, head of convenience store support, and Han Sang-wook, head of Milal Welfare Foundation’s Good Will Store in attendance. It was announced on the 9th that a business agreement ceremony was held for product donation.

Goodwill Store is a vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled that provides jobs to people with disabilities with the proceeds from donated products (clothes, food, daily necessities, etc.) or clothes that are not used at home.

In the meantime, GS25 sent the remaining products from its end-of-business stores to the distribution center for disposal. As a result, there was a loss in product recovery costs, storage costs, and processing costs.

GS25 decided to donate the remaining products to the Milal Welfare Foundation’s Goodwill Store to solve these problems and to use the remaining products effectively.

In the future, in the event of a GS25 closing point, Goodwill Store vehicles will visit the store and collect the remaining products.

The collected products are then returned to Goodwill stores nationwide and sold. Proceeds from the sale are used as labor costs for employees with disabilities.

Through this business agreement, the two sides are expected to produce excellent effects, such as △simplification of the processing of residual products at the end of the business, △reducing the cost of storing and disposing of residual goods in the distribution center, △creating jobs for the disabled through the proceeds of the sale of donated products, and △protecting the environment through a virtuous cycle of resources. .

Kim Myung-jong, head of GS Retail’s convenience store support division, said, “By effectively utilizing the remaining products from the GS25 outlets, we can contribute to reducing costs, creating jobs for the disabled and protecting the environment through a virtuous cycle of resources. We will continue to carry out activities and contribute to taking the local community one step further.”
