Gwangju Disaster Responsibility Supervisor Chung Mong-gyu, Chairman of HDC Group, will express his intentions soon

HDC Group Chairman Chung Mong-gyu is expected to announce his path as early as this week.

According to the business world on the 16th, it is said that Chairman Jung will take responsibility for the collapse of the outer wall of Hwajeong I-Park in Seo-gu, Gwangju, and express his intentions through an apology letter to the public.

Chairman Jung went down to Gwangju on the 12th, the day after the accident, to discuss measures to deal with the accident and future measures with Yoo Byung-gyu, CEO of Hyundai Industrial Development. Afterwards, he came to his home in Seoul and was reported to have started contemplating the problem of where he was going along with the solution.

Chairman Chung is said to be considering the possibility of stepping down from the position of chairman of the HDC group. It is reported that they are also discussing ways to quit the management of construction companies such as Hyundai Development Company and switch to a professional management system.

Chairman Chung served as chairman of Hyundai Motor Company from 1986 to 1998. In March 1999, he moved to Hyundai Development Company along with his father, the late Hyundai Motors Honorary Chairman Jeong Se-young, as Hyundai Motor Company Chairman Chung Mong-koo passed the management rights.
