Midsummer heatwaves have been rampant across the inland since last weekend.

It is early summer in June, but the heat is as strong as midsummer.

In the metropolitan area like Seoul and inland areas like Yeongseo, Gwangju and Daegu, heat waves have been rampant since last weekend.

As an unofficial record, the maximum daytime temperature in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do rose to 37.3 degrees, the hottest in the country.

It rose to 35.4 degrees in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, 34.6 degrees in Buyeo, and 34 degrees in Seoul, South Chungcheong Province, recording the highest temperature this year, especially in the western region.

This is because the sea breeze blowing from the East Sea crosses the Baekdu-daegan, carrying additional heat, heating the western inland even hotter while the scorching sun pours in from the pressure area. high

The momentum of the heat wave will gradually decrease as it rains across the country, and for now, temperatures similar to normal years will appear.

<김연직 / 기상청 예보분석관> “Due to the influence of low pressure approaching from the West Sea, it will start to rain in Jeju Island in the morning of the 20th and then in the Chungcheong and southern regions from afternoon to night, spreading throughout the country on the 21st.”

The congestion front, which usually sprays monsoon rain, is still located in the southern sea of Japan, so it is unlikely to affect Korea immediately.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts that after this rain stops, heat around 30 degrees will appear again on the weekend.
