The People Power Party formed an election preparation committee with emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon as the overall chairman and prominent figures from the metropolitan area joining.

The results of the primary were additionally announced, and Rep. Ha Tae-kyung, who was eliminated from the regional primary in Seongdong, Seoul, protested that the results were unreliable and demanded the release of raw primary data.

The issue of whether to cancel the nomination of candidate Do Tae-woo, who caused controversy over the 5.18 disparagement, has been going on all day, but no conclusion has yet been reached.

This is reporter Gu Seung’s report.

Former lawmaker Lee Hye-hoon defeated lawmaker Ha Tae-kyung in the Seoul Jung-Seongdong runoff.

Rep. Ha, who left Busan, where he ran for three terms, and took on the challenge in Seoul, but suffered a difficult defeat, objected, saying the result was unbelievable.

“Because this phenomenon occurred between the first and second primaries, which is so probabilistically difficult to believe and virtually impossible to happen…”

In Hanam Gap, Gyeonggi Province, proportional lawmaker Lee Yong, who is a former chief of staff for President Yoon Seok-yeol’s presidential campaign and is even called ‘the mouth of the president,’ passed the primary and will face off against former Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae of the Democratic Party.

The People Power Party established emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon as the so-called ‘one-top’ general election committee chairman, and leading figures from the metropolitan area such as Na Kyung-won, Ahn Cheol-soo, and Won Hee-ryong, as well as floor leader Yoon Jae-ok, joined as co-chairmen of the campaign committee.

He visited Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, the constituency of Rep. Kim Young-joo, who left the Democratic Party and joined the party, and promised to make the Gyeongbu Line underground.

“These two commercial areas will be merged, the residential areas will be merged, and eventually the living areas will be merged. We will fulfill that promise.”

We are in pain all day long over the cancellation of the nomination of candidate Do Tae-woo, who claimed ‘the possibility of North Korea’s intervention in May 18’.

At this time, we are still discussing whether to cancel the nomination for the provincial candidate.

Initially, it was thought that the cancellation of the nomination was imminent as emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon ordered the diplomatic committee to reexamine the nomination.

“That person is not a problem at all? I don’t think so. He is a problem. Most of our citizens don’t think that way.”

However, it is reported that there is strong opposition within the party, especially in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.

In addition to the reason that the nomination should not be canceled due to past thoughts, there also appears to be concerns about public sentiment in the Daegu region if the nomination of Attorney Do, who defended former President Park Geun-hye, is overturned.

Candidate Jang Ye-chan, who made inappropriate sexual comments, apologized, and Rep. Park Deok-heum of North Chungcheong Province, who celebrated his election with local officials even before the election, received a public warning from Chairman Han Dong-hoon.
