Haeundae strong wind warning … ‘distant distributions’ throughout Busan

◀ anchor ▶

This time, we will connect with Busan.

In Busan, the typhoon ‘Hinnamno’ two weeks ago caused particularly large damage to coastal areas such as Marine City.

A reporter is out at Mipo Port, Haeundae.

Reporter Park Jun-oh!

Has it started to rain in Busan now?

◀ reporter ▶

Yes, here in Busan, Haeundae Mipo Port where I am now, it started to rain little by little as the day went down.

The wind blows quite strong, so you can feel a typhoon coming.

Here in Haeundae, along the coast, tall buildings including L City are very populated, so the tension increases whenever a typhoon comes.

Currently, a strong wind advisory is in effect across Busan, and a typhoon warning is in effect from 9:00 pm shortly thereafter.

In the Busan area, high waves hit the shoreline during Typhoon Hinnamno earlier, and many facilities were damaged around the Songdo, Gwangalli, and Haeundae areas.

The restoration work is not yet complete, and I am concerned that damage will not occur again.

Neighboring residents prepared for the typhoon by closing most of their businesses and building sandbags as they were nervous.

The typhoon closest to Busan is expected to be around 10am tomorrow.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that heavy rain of 100 to 150 mm will fall in the Busan area by tomorrow, and that strong winds of around 120 km/h will blow momentarily.

The landslide emergency warnings in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam have also been raised to ‘take care’.

In order to prevent typhoon damage, the Busan Metropolitan Education Office decided to hold classes in all schools in the remote area tomorrow.
