Halo 5: The PC Dream That Never Was – Former Dev Reveals the Truth
Halo 5: Guardians was released in late 2015, and we haven’t seen much of Master Chief and his story since then. Sure, we have Halo Infinite in 2021 and there are still players heading to The Master Chief Collection to reminisce about the good old days, but Halo 5 remains elusive as it’s only available via Xbox One.
Fans have long hoped the game would come to PC, but former developer Tyler Owens didn’t think that would happen. on X/Twitter (via TheGamer), Owens said the following to a fan who requested a PC port.
“I hope so, but it will never happen. I think the port under consideration encountered significant technical obstacles and was abandoned.
Most of the time, you can never say never in a game, so fans are still hoping for a PC release one day, but the main question is whether it can make money. If technical obstacles stand in the way, the only way Microsoft can get around them is to be able to sniff out the profit from those obstacles. Considering the lukewarm response to Halo 5: Guardians upon release, it’s unclear whether many people will shell out money to get it on the new platform.
