South Korean action thriller ‘Harbin’ is making waves in the U.S. box office,racking up over 1 million viewers in just two days since its release. Distributor CJ ENM announced the remarkable milestone on December 25th, highlighting the film’s explosive start.

On its opening day, december 24th, ‘Harbin’ drew in an astounding 380,000 moviegoers. This rapid ascent puts the film on track to perhaps rival the success of other blockbuster hits like ‘Crime city 2’ and ‘Crime City 3,’ wich both attracted over 10 million viewers upon their release in 2022. remarkably, ‘harbin’ is even outpacing the box office performance of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ at the same stage of its release.
Directed by Woo Min-ho, ‘Harbin’ tells the gripping story of Korean independence fighters in 1909, including the iconic Ahn Jung-geun, as they plot to assassinate Ito Hirobumi, the Japanese resident-general of Korea and a key figure in the country’s colonization.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, with Hyun Bin captivating audiences in the role of Dr.Ahn Jung-geun. Joining him are acclaimed actors Park Jung-min, Jo Woo-jin, Jeon Yeo-bin, Yoo Jae-myeong, and Lee Dong-wook. Japanese actress Lily Franki portrays Ito Hirobumi.
