Harmonizing Hearts: Couples Find Harmony On and Off Stage with Lexington Choral⁣ Society

Lexington, NC – When the Lexington Choral Society takes the stage for its annual “Welcome to December” concert, the voices blend together in a beautiful symphony.⁤ But for some members, the harmony extends beyond the music and into their personal lives. This⁢ year, at ⁢least six vocalists will be sharing the⁣ stage ‍with⁢ their important others, ⁤including Randy and Jane Hall, and Alisa and Doug Powers.

“Music and dance brought us together,” Randy Hall, a retired presbyterian minister, said of ‍his wife, Jane. The couple met while swing dancing ⁢and shag dancing with the Piedmont Swing Dancers. Both had ⁢been active in church and community⁢ choirs as youth, and Randy had been an on-and-off ⁢member of LCS as the mid-1980s.

Joining LCS together felt natural as their relationship blossomed.Similarly, music played a pivotal role ⁤in the love story of Alisa and Doug Powers. They met singing in their former church choir. Doug, a member ⁤of the The Byrds gospel quartet‍ for 30 years, and Alisa, who comes from a musically-inclined Lexington family, found a shared⁢ passion that deepened their bond.”I wouldn’t be here if I‍ hadn’t married Alisa,” Doug powers admitted. “I woudl come ⁣see the performances, but I wouldn’t be singing with‍ them.I’ve always ⁣thought the music they sing⁢ was above me. I don’t read music like the rest of ⁤them. We do some really difficult pieces. I always did what I do by ear.”

For both couples, sharing the stage and their love of music enriches their relationship.

“I think a healthy couple enjoys things they have together like we do,” Randy Hall said, “and has things they do separately.”

“I’m just glad she got me into this,” Doug Powers added with a smile. “I really enjoy it.”

The Halls and Powerses are just two examples of how music can bring people‍ together,⁢ both romantically and within a ⁣community. The Lexington Choral society’s “welcome ⁤to December” concert is ⁢a testament to that power, offering a heartwarming experience for both performers and audience members alike.
