Harry Kane has joined Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of only six players to score 50 or more club goals in a single European season since 2000, achieving the milestone for Bayern Munich in their 4-3 Champions League quarter-final second leg victory over Real Madrid on April 15, 2026.
The England captain scored his 50th goal of the 2025-26 season in that match, reaching the landmark in just 42 appearances across all competitions for the German champions. His tally comprises 31 Bundesliga goals, 12 in the Champions League, six in the DFB-Pokal and one in the DFL-Supercup.
Only Messi has reached 50 club goals in fewer games, doing so in 40 appearances for Barcelona during the 2012-13 season when he finished with 73 goals. Kane’s achievement places him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, Gerd Müller and Dixie Dean as one of the select few to hit the half-century mark in a season since the turn of the millennium.
Bayern Munich still have between eight and ten matches remaining in the 2025-26 campaign, meaning Kane could potentially add to his tally and challenge some of football’s most revered single-season goal records. The Athletic noted that matching Ronaldo’s best-ever season would see Kane finish behind only Messi’s 73-goal campaign in 2011-12, Ferenc Deák’s 66 in 1945-46, Müller’s 66 in 1972-73 and Dean’s 63 in 1927-28.
Kane has also scored five goals for England in five international matches this season, bringing his combined club and country total to 55 goals in 47 games. In the Bundesliga, he is on course to become the league’s top scorer for a third consecutive season, a feat previously achieved only by Robert Lewandowski, who did so five times in a row from 2017-18 to 2021-22.
The milestone goal came as Bayern Munich overturned a first-leg deficit to defeat Real Madrid 6-4 on aggregate and set up a Champions League semi-final meeting with Paris Saint-Germain. Kane became only the second Englishman in history to score in five consecutive Champions League matches and remains the only player to score or assist in five consecutive games against Real Madrid in the competition’s history.
