Harry Roesli’s House Sold: What Matters is the Spirit!
Legendary Musician Harry RoesliS Bandung Home hits the Market
Bandung, Indonesia – The iconic Bandung home of legendary Indonesian musician Harry Roesli is up for sale, marking the end of an era for the “Bengal from Bandung.” Layala Khrisna Patria, Roesli’s son, confirmed the tough decision, stating that the family has been considering the sale since 2018.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Patria told local media. “Letting go of this house is tough because of the memories it holds. But wherever we are, the memories of my father adn his spirit will remain the same.”
The home, known as Rumah Musik harry Roesli, served as the musician’s creative hub after he moved from his previous residence on Jalan Supratman No. 57, where his groundbreaking 1977 album “Ken Arok” was recorded.
Patria explained that the decision to sell stems from the high operational costs of maintaining the large property in a prime location.
“Monthly expenses reach tens of millions of rupiah,” he said. “We’ve tried renting out some rooms to help cover costs, but it’s not enough, and our family is spread out, so the house is often empty.”
While the sale is bittersweet, Patria emphasized that the house is not just a physical structure but a symbol of his father’s legacy.
“This house is part of Harry Roesli’s artistic journey,” he said. “It’s a Culturally Significant Building, categorized as Grade B, and holds a special place in Bandung’s musical history.”
The sprawling 880 square meter property is listed for Rp 25 billion.
