NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors presented testimony concerning Jessica mann, the third woman central to the case, in court proceedings today.
Initial Meeting and Alleged Unwanted Advances
According to court testimony,Mann first encountered Weinstein around 2012. He reportedly expressed interest in assisting her acting career. During what was intended as a business meeting at a hotel restaurant, Weinstein allegedly instructed waiters to move their meal to a private room, citing too many interruptions, according to prosecutor Lucey.
Once in the private room, Lucey stated that Weinstein asked Mann to remove her shirt, suggesting he wanted to give her a massage. Mann refused. Weinstein then allegedly asked Mann to give him a massage, and she agreed. Mann then left after this interaction,Lucey said.
Alleged 2013 Assault
Lucey recounted a subsequent meeting in March 2013, arranged by Mann, at a hotel lobby. Weinstein allegedly booked a hotel room under a false name. He then escorted Mann to the room,Lucey stated.Despite Mann’s reluctance to enter, Weinstein allegedly pushed her inside.
Once inside the room, the prosecutor alleges that Weinstein repeatedly asked Mann to undress, which she refused. Lucey stated that the pressure continued until mann was on a bed, where Weinstein allegedly raped her.
Weinstein’s Alleged Statement
Following the alleged assault, weinstein reportedly told Mann, “I just couldn’t help myself,” according to Lucey.
