Hawaii MBB Hosts UC San Diego: Pink Game & Home Win Streak | Feb 7th

Rainbow Warriors Host UC San Diego Saturday, Recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month

HONOLULU The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team returns to Bankoh Arena to host UC San Diego on Saturday, . Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Rainbow Warriors were idle on Thursday, while the Tritons defeated Long Beach State, 77-74, at home before traveling to Honolulu. UH has won nine consecutive home games and is currently tied for second place in the Big West Conference title race. Hawaii has won three of its last four contests while UC San Diego snapped a three-game losing streak with its victory over the Beach and is tied for sixth in the league standings.

Promotions for Saturday’s Game

Saturday’s game, presented by Hawaii Pacific Health, will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the team’s annual pink game. Hawaii Pacific Health will distribute 300 clear HPH tote bags, 250 branded massagers, and 250 pink sanitizer sprays to fans entering through Gate A before the game.

Prior to the game, head coach Eran Ganot will welcome and honor patients and staff from Hope Lodge, and present a check to support cancer research. The team will wear custom pink shirts, symbolizing unity with those fighting cancer and their support systems.

The UH swim and dive team will also be honored before the game, as they prepare to compete in the MPSF Championships in Houston, Texas.

Fans can take advantage of the “4 Da ‘Ohana Ticket Pack,” which includes four upper-level baseline seats and $50 in concession credit for $79. This offer requires a purchase of at least two packs and must be purchased online at least two hours before the event.

Series History and Recent Performance

UH leads the all-time series against UC San Diego, 7-4, with a 5-1 record in Honolulu. However, the Tritons have won the last three meetings between the teams, all by double-digit margins, including an 83-73 victory in La Jolla on January 3.

Hawaii is 13-1 at home this season, with its only loss coming against Arizona State on November 20. The Rainbow Warriors have won their last nine contests at Bankoh Arena.

In their last three games, the ‘Bows have been shooting well from three-point range, averaging 11.0 made three-pointers and shooting 43% (33-of-76) from beyond the arc. They have also been accurate from the free-throw line, shooting 80% (110-138) over the last six games.

Hunter Erickson has dished out eight assists in each of the last three games.

Former Rainbow Warrior Tom Beattie returns to Manoa as the Tritons’ third-leading scorer (10.3 points per game) and top distributor (3.2 assists per game).

UH improved to 5-0 when coming off a loss following its 89-82 win at Long Beach State. The ‘Bows shot a season-high 58% from the field in the win, and their 53 second-half points were also a season best.

Dre Bullock’s 26 points at LBSU was the highest single-game scoring output by a Rainbow Warrior this season. UH is 6-0 when Bullock leads the team in scoring.

After being out-rebounded in only one of their first 13 games, the ‘Bows have been out-rebounded in six of the last eight games, including a 36-29 deficit at LBSU.
