HBO Max Expanding Global reach Amid Streaming Wars
HBO Max is set to launch in 12 new markets, including Albania, armenia, Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, and Tajikistan. This expansion brings the streaming service closer to availability in 100 markets, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.
Starting in July, these regions will gain access to a wide array of content, including titles from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures,DC Studios,and Max originals. Key titles include the upcoming “A Minecraft Movie,” the “Harry Potter” film series, “The Last of Us,” and “The White Lotus.” Future series such as “Task” and “IT: Welcome to Derry” are also slated for release.

JB Perrette,CEO and president of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery,emphasized the importance of global expansion. “Our continued global expansion of HBO Max is helping fuel the grate momentum we continue to see for the service,” Perrette said.
Perrette added that launches in Germany, Italy, and the U.K. are planned for early next year, following additional market entries later in 2025. This positions HBO Max as a key player in global entertainment, he said.
This expansion comes as Warner Bros. Discovery reported 122.3 million streaming subscribers at the close of the first quarter of 2025, a 5.3 million increase from the previous quarter. However, the company is undergoing a restructuring, dividing into two publicly traded entities due to overall business declines and a debt of nearly $38 billion.
