Pusha T on Kanye West: “He Knows I don’t Think He’s a Man”
Pusha T has addressed his strained relationship with Kanye West, revealing the depth of their divide. This comes ahead of Clipse’s new album, Let God Sort Em Out, their first in 15 years. The album is a key focus for Pusha T, but the Kanye West relationship remains a talking point.
In an interview, pusha T said he felt like he was “playing the industry game” while working with West. Pusha T officially cut ties with West and his G.O.O.D. Music label in 2022,where he had served as president. He confirmed that his relationship with West is irreparable, pointing to West’s public rants and online behavior as contributing factors.
“He knows I don’t think he’s a man,” Pusha T told GQ. ”He knows it. And that’s why we can’t build with each other no more…because he knows what I really, really think of him. He’s showed me the weakest sides of him, and he knows how I think of weak people.”
Pusha T acknowledged the “great stuff” he created with West and credited him with returning 50% ownership of G.O.O.D. Music artists’ masters. However, when asked if West’s mental health excused his actions, Pusha T stated that West is both “sick” and “calculated.”
“If I take your sickness and take how calculated you’ve been and disruptive you’ve been and tried to be to me, then it cancels itself out,” he said. “I can’t look at it as sick, because you’re detrimental. You’re detrimental to everything.”
Pusha T also discussed reuniting with his brother Malice and their experience working with West. The reunion was sparked after West invited Malice to contribute to his 2019 album, Jesus Is King.
Pusha T said he cautioned his brother about the potential “foolishness” of working with West. Nevertheless,Malice agreed, and they collaborated on “Use This Gospel.”
“I feel like we were [suddenly] convinced that it could happen,” Pusha T told GQ regarding their initial reunion thoughts. “But there was so much going on within the whole Ye circle…. If we decided we were going to jump into it, then we should be jumping into it.It wasn’t progressing like that… That was bothersome to me.”
