According too the BLS, healthcare led all industries in job growth for May, adding 62,000 positions
out of a total of 139,000. The healthcare sector now comprises 11% of the nation’s civilian workforce,
totaling 17 million jobs.
Separately, the CBO reported that proposed House budget legislation could reduce health insurance coverage for
up to 15 million people. This reduction is attributed to work requirements for Medicaid and the elimination of
marketplace subsidies, primarily affecting individuals wiht household incomes below 200% of the federal poverty
level ($31,300 for individuals, $64,300 for a family of four).
