Administrative Negligence Causes Registration Miss
Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial College, a school that has dominated the Shatin and Sai Kung District School A Football Tournament for 17 consecutive years, missed the registration this year due to administrative negligence. The school is now hoping that the organizer will handle it at its discretion.
Principal Apologizes for Incident
Huang Yau-kit, principal of Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial College, apologized for the incident, stating, “We sincerely apologize.” The school also apologized to students and parents for the incident.
Registration Period and Incident Discovery
The registration period for the tournament was from July 22 to September 2. However, the previous head of the physical education department resigned on August 31 without completing the registration. The new head of the physical education department discovered the incident on September 3 and immediately contacted the school experience association to explain and seek discretion.
Appeal Rejected by School Experience Association
Unfortunately, the school experience association replied that it would not consider the school’s appeal, and the appeal was also rejected. The school is now facing the possibility of not being able to participate in the elite competition for the next two academic years.
Principal Reflects on Incident
Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School principal Huang Youjie reflected on the incident, stating, “For example, when we wanted to find the student association to register, he told us that the password was missing. From the perspective of the school, I think the monitoring mechanism can be improved a little bit. We admit that we have problems in administration and monitoring.”
Student’s Plea for Discretion
A student of the Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School football team pleaded for discretion from the School Sports Federation, stating, “I am in Form 6 this year. This is the last year I can participate in school competitions and the last opportunity to participate in the elite competition. I hope that the School Sports Federation will give us a chance to shine on the court.”
School’s Commitment to Accepting Punishment
The school reiterated that it has no intention of shirking its responsibilities and is willing to accept any punishment, including fines or deductions, and will continue to seek discretion from the student association.
