For the vulnerable, suffering from heating cost bombs, the government has decided to provide additional subsidies of up to 592,000 won, the largest subsidy for current heating cost measures, to’ all basic living recipients and the next income class, the potential poor. . It will also consider subsidizing heating costs for the middle class.

On the 1st, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced the ‘additional support measures for heating costs to protect the vulnerable during the winter season’. This countermeasure is that many of the basic living security recipients (those receiving living, medical, housing and education benefits) do not receive energy vouchers because they do not know how to apply, etc. This based on the criticism that the support measures because the classes are not sufficient.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy first provides a total discount of 592,000 won by adding 448,000 won to the 144,000 won that is subsidized by the existing gas rate discount for the next-highest class that are not receives energy vouchers. Similarly, among basic living security recipients who have not received energy vouchers, living and medical benefit recipients are getting an extra 304,000 won from the current support amount of 288,000 won. Residential type recipients get 448,000 won from the current 144,000 won, and education type recipients get an additional 520,000 won reduced from the current 72,000 won. As a result, the total support is 592,000 won.

From last year, it is estimated that up to 1,687,000 households will benefit from reductions on heating costs.
