Heavy rainfall and the overflowing of the Krukut River caused flooding across 12 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta on May 2, 2026. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta reported that the flooding was concentrated in the Petogogan village area.
According to data released by the BPBD as of 18:00 WIB on May 2, water levels in the affected neighborhood units reached approximately 20 cm. The agency attributed the inundation to a combination of high precipitation in the region and the inability of the Krukut River to contain the surge of water.

While residential areas in Petogogan remained submerged, the BPBD noted that flooding on several main roads had begun to recede. Specifically, the agency reported that Jalan Ciledug Raya, near the ITC Cipulir area in Cipulir village, was no longer flooded by the evening of May 2.
Emergency Response and Mitigation
The BPBD DKI Jakarta coordinated with multiple government entities to manage the floodwaters and restore drainage functionality. Personnel were deployed to monitor water levels and operate pumping equipment to accelerate the drainage process.
Collaborative efforts involved the following agencies:
- The Water Resources Department (Dinas Sumber Daya Air)
- The Public Works Department (Dinas Bina Marga)
- The Fire and Rescue Department (Dinas Penanggulangan Kebakaran dan Penyelamatan/Gulkarmat)
Muhammad Yohan stated that the agency’s target was for the standing water to recede quickly through these coordinated interventions.
Public Warnings
The BPBD urged residents to remain vigilant, as high-intensity rainfall was expected to continue. The agency warned that further inundation remains a potential risk during these weather conditions.
Residents facing emergency situations are advised to contact the Jakarta Siaga service via the 112 emergency number, which is available 24 hours a day.
