Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains continue in the state. The Meteorological Center has warned of the possibility of widespread isolated heavy rain and very heavy rain in the state. A yellow warning has been issued in nine areas today as a result of the warning issued by the Meteorological Centre. A yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.
The Meteorological Center has also warned that there is a possibility of rain with thunder. The general cyclonic circulation over the Andaman Sea will turn into low pressure during the next 36 hours. The Meteorological Center has informed that it will develop into a very intense depression by Saturday and later intensify into a cyclonic storm over the central Bay of West Bengal. As a result of this, heavy rains will continue in Kerala for the next few days, according to the Meteorological Centre.

Lightning Precautions:
1) Do not go to the terrace or yard when it is raining or there is a thunderstorm. Move to a safe building if there is any sign of lightning.
2) Unplug household appliances during lightning.
3) Close the window and door.
4) Do not touch metal objects. Do not go near electrical equipment.
5) Do not stand under trees if you are outside the house.
6) If travelling, the vehicle should be parked in any open space and should not touch any metal parts.
7) Do not enter water during thunderstorms.
8) Do not fly kites during thunderstorms.
9) If you are in an open place, keep your feet together and put your head between your knees and roll up like a ball.
10) Avoid using the phone.
11) Avoid bathing during thunderstorms.
