Hervé Renard Returns as Saudi National Team’s Technical Director

The Saudi Football Federation has announced the appointment of Frenchman Hervé Renard as the technical director of the Saudi national team, replacing Italian Roberto Mancini.

Renard’s return to the Saudi national team comes after the federation announced the dismissal of Roberto Mancini from his position and the termination of his contract by mutual consent.

A video featuring Frenchman Renard was released on the Saudi national team’s official account, with the caption “He’s back.” In the video, Renard expressed his excitement about returning to the team.

“I didn’t want to leave, but when your homeland knocks on your door, you must answer,” Renard said in a statement during the video clip.

He concluded: “My relationship with Saudi Arabia, the players and the fans cannot be forgotten, my story is not over with Saudi Arabia and thank God I am back.”

Renard previously took charge of the Saudi national team between July 2019 and March 2023, during which Al-Akhdar qualified for the 2022 World Cup.
