Public Prosecution Files Case Against Public Security Service Member Over Citizen’s Killing

The Public Prosecution has announced the filing of a public case against a member of the Public Security Service and the Security Station in connection with the killing of citizen Abdul Muhaimin Al-Fallah.

The Public Prosecution’s media office added that the Public Prosecution authorities have demanded the trial of an officer who misled the investigation into the same murder attributed to his colleague.

Background of the Incident

Abdul-Muhaimin Al-Fallah, a fan of Al-Ittihad club, was shot on May 15, 2023 during a match between Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli Benghazi team and died a few days later in Tunisia.

Investigation and Proceedings

On May 20, 2023, the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that the Public Prosecutor had ordered the judicial police to take necessary measures to investigate, after which he would announce the identification of the perpetrators and order their pre-trial detention pending investigation.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated at the time that it had “interrogated a member of the police force who learned about the crime and identified its perpetrator, but did not take the initiative to report it, which necessitated his imprisonment.”
