Xinhua News Agency, Tokyo, April 29 (Reporter Guo Dan) Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said on the 29th that a highly pathogenic bird flu epidemic was confirmed on a farm in Chiba Prefecture that day. This is the 11th case in Japan since the start of the bird flu epidemic season last autumn and winter.

According to a press release issued by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries that day, this farm in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture raised a total of about 63,000 chickens. After receiving the report on the 28th, relevant departments in Chiba Prefecture immediately conducted on-site inspections of the farm and confirmed that the dead birds were infected with a highly pathogenic avian influenza virus.

The communication also stated that all poultry raised on this farm will be culled, burned and buried, and that a 3 kilometer radius around the farm will be designated as a “restricted movement area ” poultry carcasses and items that could cause the spread of pathogens are restricted in the area for movement, the area within a radius of 3 to 10 kilometers is designated as a “restricted movement out area”, and cannot transport of poultry and egg products from farms in the area outside the area.

On the 29th, the local government implemented corresponding restrictions on 29 farms within a radius of 10 kilometers around the farm.
