February 12, 2026 – The Hingham/Hull co-op gymnastics team has secured a share of the Patriot League championship for the second consecutive year, finishing with a 5-1 record alongside Marshfield and Pembroke/Silver Lake. The Harborwomen’s success this season is underscored by an 8-1 overall record and a program-first undefeated regular season.

While the team narrowly missed the outright league title at the Patriot League meet, finishing second to Silver Lake/Pembroke by just .65 points, the season’s accomplishments have been widely celebrated. Head coach Alexandra Boyd was named Coach of the Year, assistant coach Marissa Hennessey earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors, and sophomore Grace Whiting was crowned league MVP.

Boyd, in her tenth year leading the program, attributes the team’s consistent success to the dedication of the athletes during the off-season. “All of these girls put in an incredible amount of their own time into improving their event skills in the off-season with their club programs,” Boyd said. “We have girls coming together from two different high schools, but they all seem to know one another from their work with the club programs and I think that helps create the awesome chemistry on the team.”

That chemistry has translated into impressive individual performances. Whiting, a 15-year-old who trains with Head over Heels in Norwell, captured the all-around title at the Patriot League championship meet and is looking to build on a strong postseason showing from last year, where she placed 19th at states and 25th at the New England Championships. Whiting’s dedication to the sport, which she’s practiced since the age of three, is evident in her consistently high scores.

“I think the experience from last year will help prepare me for this year’s competition,” Whiting stated. “I’m excited to compete against top competitors because that’s what brings out the best in me.”

Whiting’s performances have been pivotal to Hingham/Hull’s success. She achieved a program-record 9.5 on the beam earlier this season, and consistently scores above 9.2 on floor exercise (9.25), uneven bars (9.2), and vault (9.4). Her all-around ability makes her a key competitor for individual honors at the upcoming state championships.

Beyond Whiting, the team’s depth has been a significant factor. Senior captains Sienna Besser and Taylor Delaney have provided leadership and strong performances throughout the season. Besser was named best senior gymnast in the Patriot League by the coaches, while Delaney took first place in bars and third place on floor at the championship meet. Sophomore Jessica Scipione also contributed with a second-place finish on bars, and freshman Charlotte Passeggio secured third place on beam.

The team’s progression culminated in breaking the program’s all-time scoring record not once, but twice. They first surpassed the previous record with a score of 137.50 last week, then bettered that mark with a championship meet score of 138.30.

“Amazing,” Boyd muttered after the meet, struggling to articulate the magnitude of the team’s achievements. “I said to the girls this is the first time I don’t have words. I’m so happy for them. I’m so proud of them. This is just an amazing moment. To beat our program record not one but twice and claim not just the league title for our (season) record, but, for this (championship) meet as well. It’s amazing. I’m so happy for my girls.”

Looking ahead, Hingham/Hull awaits confirmation of their qualification for the South Sectional Team Championships, scheduled for Saturday, February 21 at Algonquin Regional High School. Whiting and Passeggio have already secured individual berths at the state championships in Tewksbury, offering further opportunities to showcase their talent on a larger stage.

The Harborwomen’s success this season is a testament to the dedication of its athletes, the strong coaching staff, and the supportive environment fostered within the program. As they prepare for the next level of competition, Hingham/Hull gymnastics has firmly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the Patriot League and beyond.
