Ryota Arai will serve as Army’s 2nd batting coach.

Hiroshima announced on the team’s official website on the 31st that the coaching staff for 2023 has been decided. Under new manager Takahiro Arai, the team won the league title for the first time in five years since 2018, with Akihito Fujii as head coach and Yoshiyuki Ishihara as the battery instructor.

Masato Akamatsu, defense and outfield running coach, and Takeshi Kikuchihara, pitching coach, will be in charge of 1st Army. Shinji Taka will continue to serve as the 2nd army coach, and Teruhiro Higashide, the infield defense and base running coach, will be transferred to the 2nd army.

Toshiki Fukuchi, who will return to his old home since 2005, will be 2nd Army’s batting and baserunning coach, and Ryota Arai, the younger brother of Director Arai, will be 2nd Army’s batting coach.
