Paul McCartney has released a new track titled Home to Us, marking the first-ever duet between McCartney and his former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr. The song serves as the latest preview for McCartney’s upcoming solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane.

The collaboration features additional vocal contributions from Sharleen Spiteri of the band Texas and Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde, who both provide backing vocals on the track. Home to Us is currently available through digital outlets.

Production and Collaboration

The track was developed through a collaboration between McCartney and producer Andrew Watt. According to reports, the song was originally constructed around a drum track that Watt and McCartney requested Starr record for the project.

While Starr initially intended to contribute only a few lines of vocals, McCartney encouraged him to participate in a full duet. The song is notable for being the only track on the forthcoming album that features a guest drummer.

McCartney stated that the song was done totally with Ringo in mind during the initial announcement of the track.

Thematic Focus and Liverpool Roots

The song explores the early lives of McCartney and Starr, specifically focusing on their upbringing in post-war Liverpool. The lyrics and themes center on the experience of rising from poverty to achieve success.

McCartney provided further context regarding the song’s inspiration and Starr’s childhood in the Dingle area of Liverpool.

In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us.

Album Context and Career Timeline

The upcoming album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, is framed as an autobiographical survey of McCartney’s childhood. It is scheduled for release on May 29, 2026, via MPL/Capital and is currently available for preorder.

This project follows McCartney’s previous solo effort, McCartney III, which was released in 2020. Home to Us is the second song released from the new album, following the lead single Days We Left Behind, which debuted in March 2026.

This duet is the first collaboration between McCartney and Starr since the 2023 release of the Beatles track Now and Then. That project was centered on a vocal recording by John Lennon that had been unearthed in 1994.

The production of Now and Then was initially delayed due to the poor audio quality of the original Lennon recording. The track was eventually completed using AI technology introduced to McCartney and Starr by director Peter Jackson, who also directed the song’s accompanying music video.

While Now and Then was billed as the final song by the Beatles, Home to Us represents a new solo collaboration between the two surviving members of the group.
