More than 150 residents were evacuated from Tai Yuan House at Tsuen Wan Center in Hong Kong after a fire broke out in a 33rd-floor flat on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 2:22 am. This incident follows a recent fatal blaze in Shek Kip Mei.
Firefighters responded to the scene at 98 Tsuen King Circuit adn forced entry into the apartment to rescue a 63-year-old resident, Chan.
Cause of the Fire
According to a police source, the fire is believed to have been accidental, ignited by a candle lit by Chan before going to bed.The flame reportedly spread to other items in the home.
The source stated that Chan woke up to a smoke-filled flat.Firefighters found her unwell in the washroom after inhaling fumes and transported her to Princess Margaret Hospital.
Fire Contained, Residents Safe
The fire was extinguished, and all affected residents safely evacuated to the ground floor. No further injuries were reported.
