Boosting Access to the arts Hub
A new ferry service linking Central and the West Kowloon Cultural District began a four-day trial run on Monday, as part of efforts to increase the appeal of the arts hub. The trial aims to assess the viability of improved transport links for visitors, according to the South China Morning Post.
Betty Fung Ching Suk-yee, CEO of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, stated the organization intends to utilize the quay to expand its offerings. She highlighted plans to connect museums, performing arts programs, dining, and retail options with popular tourist destinations like the Peak and Ngong Ping 360.
Ferry Route Details and Increased Water Transport
The new WestK Ferry route takes approximately eight minutes to travel between the WestK Quay and Central Pier No. 9. In addition to the ferry, water taxi services will also increase their frequency, aiming to provide convenient access from various locations across Hong Kong and Kowloon by the end of the trial on Friday.
Fung anticipates that the new transport options will make the west Kowloon Cultural District more accessible to both residents and tourists.
