Sharing with VNA reporters in New York, Mr. Truong The Anh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York, said that the working trip and the participation of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation at the High-Level Week of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly have a special significance. This is not only a significant step forward in Vietnam’s foreign policy, but also emphasizes the role and position of Vietnam as an active member, reliable and responsible partner in the international arena, demonstrating Vietnam’s strong commitment, through important and positive contributions in areas such as peacekeeping, promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as enhancing multilateral dialogue and cooperation; clearly affirming Vietnam’s commitment to the core values of the UN.
The working trip of the General Secretary and President during the General Assembly High-Level Week not only contributes to enhancing and affirming Vietnam’s increasingly solid position in the international community, but also expands opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation; consolidates the country’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification and active international integration. The visit is a clear demonstration of Vietnam’s determination to contribute to global efforts to address major challenges, especially in the context of the world undergoing many complex changes today.
Representing Vietnamese students and young generations studying and working in the US, the President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York expressed his desire to return to his homeland and his desire to contribute to building a civilized, beautiful and prosperous Vietnam. Mr. Truong The Anh said that the Vietnamese youth and student community abroad is still making daily efforts, practicing and participating in common activities as well as cultivating knowledge to prepare for the future; expressing his hope that the Party and State will continue to pay attention and create conditions for the young generation to return to work after studying abroad, to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development, especially in starting a business and scientific research.
President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York Truong The Anh also believes that the relationship between Vietnam and the UN will have positive and practical steps forward after the working visit of General Secretary and President To Lam. This will be an important milestone, not only tightening the cooperative relationship with the world’s largest multilateral organization, but also affirming Vietnam’s role as a reliable and responsible partner in the international community. In relations with the US, the working visit of General Secretary and President To Lam will deepen cooperation opportunities in strategic areas such as economy, education, science and technology, etc. This is an opportunity to further consolidate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, through expanding bilateral cooperation agreements for the benefit of the people of both countries.
Mr. Tran Vu, who has studied and worked in New York for a long time, said that he has always been impressed by the image and increasing position of Vietnam at the UN in recent years. The working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam to attend the high-level week of the UN General Assembly this year proves that Vietnam highly values this international organization, participates responsibly and makes full contributions to its activities, development orientations, resolutions, and practical activities such as participating in peacekeeping missions, the UN Human Rights Council, the UN Commission on the Law of the Sea, etc. to solve current global common problems.
According to Mr. Tran Vu, with the foundation of extensive cooperation as in the past, the relationship between Vietnam and the UN in the coming time will continue to be consolidated and expanded; Vietnam will increasingly make practical and effective contributions to multilateral institutions in general and the UN in particular, clearly demonstrating that Vietnam is a responsible, active member with sufficient capacity and qualifications to participate in the common tasks of the UN.
