Mae Ai Landslide Update: Fourth Victim Found, Two Still Missing
A fourth victim of the devastating Mae Ai landslide has been discovered, while two more individuals remain unaccounted for.
As of 10:30 on September 11, 2023, officials have been working tirelessly to inspect the affected area in Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province. The search efforts have been divided into two groups, focusing on two key points: the Ban Tat Mok slide area and the route to Ban Doi Laem and the side rising from Doi Lang junction.
The landslide has severely impacted the local community, with over 2,000 villagers affected in the areas of Ban Doi Laem, Doi Lang, Pang Ton Duea, and Pang Saen Khlue.
In the search for the six missing individuals in Ban Doi Laem, Mae Ai Subdistrict, the bodies of three people have been recovered: Ms. Kayarat Pafu, 23 years old, Ms. Yatibo, 5 months old, and Mr. Phakan Pafu, 4 years old. Unfortunately, Mr. Teerayuth Siri, 42 years old, the village chief, and Ms. Chadaporn Pafu, 39 years old, remain missing. Mr. Yati Chawo, 40 years old, was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
At the second search point, near the reservoir, officers found one deceased person, whose name has not been released. Additionally, one injured person, Mr. Cha Kue Pa Lo, 19 years old, was found and taken to the hospital earlier. In total, the search efforts have resulted in the discovery of four deceased individuals, two injured, and two missing persons.
