How much is the minimum wage in 2023?

In 2022 it was announced that the minimum salary in Mexico it would have an increase of 20%, so as of January 1, 2023 and until now it is 207.44 pesos daily.

The Government of Mexico reported when it announced the increase that with this increase, Mexican workers would have 1,052 pesos more per month.

This measure, agreed unanimously by the business, worker and government sectors, which make up the National Minimum Wages Commission (Conasami)would benefit 6.4 million formal workers.

This year the increase in the Northern Border Free Zone came into force (made up of 43 municipalities in the states of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas), where workers receive the minimum payment 312.41 pesos dailywhich represents 1,584 additional pesos per month since January 1.

Yesterday, Tuesday, November 21, the president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex)José Medina Mora, announced in an interview with EFE which will propose a 12.8% increase in the minimum wage by 2024.

With this proposal, the minimum wage in Mexico by law would go from 207.44 pesos per day to almost 234 pesos, that is, a monthly salary of 7,020 pesos.

This morning at the National Palace, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that he hopes that the new increase in the minimum wage for 2024 will be announced at the beginning of December.
