There was generally no disagreement about forming an emergency committee as soon as possible to prepare for the national convention, but there were many different opinions on how to resolve the defeat in the general election.

The 108 elected representatives of the ruling party, who survived the crushing defeat in the general elections, began their official program with a visit to the National Cemetery.

The People Power Party, which has 90 electoral seats, and the People’s Future Party, which secured 18 seats in proportional representation, held a general meeting of elected candidates and announced a joint resolution along with a merger resolution.

In a closed-door meeting that lasted nearly two hours, there were scathing comments from metropolitan area elected officials who had been through a difficult election.

There’s a lot of talk about a plan to have ringleader Yoon Jae-ok serve as concurrent chairman of the emergency committee.

However, as there is an urgent need to prepare a strategy within the National Assembly to address the “Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecution Law” that the opposition party is pushing for, Leader Yoon’s concerns are worsening.

″I don’t think the poisonous provisions (of the Special Prosecution Act) or things like that will all be resolved once (the opposition party) wins the election. I’m thinking about how I should respond.”

Plan leader Yoon will meet with first-time elected officials and the standing advisory group one after another tomorrow.

A meeting will then be held with those who were unsuccessful in the general elections and the final decision will be made on how to form the next leadership team.
