Alabama, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, enters the championship game with a 49-6 overall record. The Crimson Tide advanced to the final following a 9-1 run-rule victory over the No. 3 seed Florida Gators on Friday, May 8, 2026. Earlier in the tournament on Thursday, May 7, 2026, Alabama defeated the No. 7 seed Arkansas Razorbacks with a score of 7-1.
The No. 4 seed Texas Longhorns reached the championship game after a 5-4 victory over No. 9 Georgia. Prior to that matchup, Texas recorded a 6-0 win against Mississippi. The Longhorns are seeking their first SEC championship following their victory in the Women’s College World Series in 2025.
Season Head-to-Head and Standings
The two programs met in early April 2026, where Patrick Murphy’s Alabama team secured a 2-1 series victory over Texas. While Texas won the opening game of that series 9-1, Alabama responded with wins of 11-4 and 7-4.

Entering the SEC Softball Tournament, the conference standings showed Oklahoma leading with a 20-4 record, followed by Alabama at 19-5. Texas entered the tournament with a 16-8 conference record, tied with Tennessee and Texas A&M.
