Brenton Passmore, 32, of Crofton, Md.,faces driving under the influence charges following the incident,according ⁤to maryland State Police.

Troopers from the Waterloo Barrack responded to the scene around 2:02 a.m. after receiving a report of ⁤a crash⁣ involving ‍one of their‍ own.A preliminary investigation revealed that an on-duty trooper, parked on the left shoulder in an unmarked vehicle, was⁤ struck from behind. Subsequently, a ⁣Jeep Cherokee collided with the trooper’s vehicle.

The impact caused the Jeep to veer into the roadway, were it was then hit by a GMC pickup truck, followed‍ by a⁤ Lincoln SUV and a Volkswagen. The driver of the Jeep was ‍pronounced dead at the scene.Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity.
