Thiruvananthapuram: In a glorious moment for badminton enthusiasts, HS Prannoy has been named the recipient of the prestigious Sportsperson of the Year Award 2022 by the esteemed Kerala Olympic Association. The accolade comes with a generous cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, along with a citation and a plaque. The felicitation ceremony is scheduled to take place at a later date. V. Sunilkumar, the President, along with Secretary S. Rajeev and Vice President SN Raghuchandran Nair, proudly shared this gratifying news with the public. As part of their initiative to acknowledge outstanding sports achievements, the association will also honor Abhilash Tomy for his remarkable performance, securing the second spot in the Paivanchi sailing race during the 2022 Golden Globe Race.

Print, Visual, and Sports Photography Awards

Turning the spotlight onto the commendable work of media professionals, the Print Media Award 2021 will be bestowed upon Thomas Varghese from Deepika, recognizing his exceptional contributions. The Visual Media Award, on the other hand, will be presented to Joby George representing Asianet News for his invaluable contributions in the field. An appreciative nod to the remarkable skills of PP Aftab, as he emerges victorious with the Sports Photography Award under his belt. Each award comprises a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a striking plaque, and a well-deserved certificate.

Grand Celebrations on International Olympic Day

In honor of the widely celebrated International Olympic Day, the Kerala Olympic Association is taking the reins, planning an extravagant celebration on June 23rd. The festivities will commence with a spirited rally, commencing from Kavadiyar and concluding at the esteemed Central Stadium at 7 am. The event is set to witness the enthusiastic participation of esteemed ministers including V. Abdurahman, V. Sivankutty, Antony Raju, and other distinguished personalities.
