MBN’s ‘Burning Trotman’ performer, Hwang Young-woong, who was embroiled in various allegations of assault, is finally coming off the programme.

Hwang Young-woong said on his social network service (SNS) on the 3rd, “After consulting with the production team, I am trying to finish the ‘Burning Trotman’ competition.”

He continued, “I will not make excuses for what happened in my childhood. I will look back and reflect on the past, resolve misunderstandings, and sincerely apologize. I sincerely ask for forgiveness from those who have be hurt because of me.”

He added, “However, I want to correct the false stories even for the sake of those who believed in me.”

Hwang Young-woong was mentioned as a strong candidate for the ‘Burning Trotman’, but he became the subject of controversy at the end of last month when the fact of a past attack became known. At the time, Hwang Young-woong publicly apologized for his past mistakes, but even after that, as suspicions of school violence and dating violence spread online, calls for him to come off were strong .

In the first round of the finals, broadcast on the 1st, Hwang Young-woong came out on top, but the fairness of the audition program was shaken as there were suspicions that the production team was trying to support Hwang Young-woong and rumors of a final round round circulates.

As Hwang Young-woong voluntarily resigned, the second round of the finals, which will be held on the 7th, will be contested by Kim Joong-yeon, Shin Sung, Enoch, Konghun, Son Tae-jin, Park Min-soo , and Min Soo-hyun, excluding Hwang Young-woong among the ‘Top 8’.
