Hyundai Motor Company Unveils Vision for Future Mobility at CES 2024

A car that runs on hydrogen produced using food waste, performs various functions using artificial intelligence (AI), and can be updated like a smartphone. A smart car that will go beyond a simple mode of transportation and become a platform that changes our overall life. This is the future of mobility envisioned by Hyundai Motor Company.

On the 8th (local time), a day before the opening of ‘Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024’, the world’s largest home appliance and information technology (IT) exhibition, Hyundai Motor Company held a global media day in Las Vegas, USA, and announced ‘hydrogen’ and ‘software-oriented motors’ (A vision for the future based on two axes, ‘SDV’ was presented.

Hyundai Motor Company President Jang Jae-hoon, who was a presenter on the day, announced that the existing fuel cell brand ‘HTWO’ would be expanded into the group’s hydrogen value chain business brand. Hyundai Motor Company’s biggest topic at this CES is SDV, known as a ‘smartphone with wheels.’ On this day, Hyundai Motor Company revealed its ‘medium to long-term strategy for software-centric transformation’ and expressed its ambition to become a leader in the SDV market. Like a smartphone, SDVs can frequently update vehicle software to the latest state, and autonomous driving technology can be implemented more easily by using external traffic data. Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-haul sat in the front row of the event venue wearing a comfortable leather jacket and cotton pants and watched the presentation until the end. Chairman Chung said, “I think it is right to prepare hydrogen for future generations,” and added, “We have incorporated IT (in mobility) for safety, but there is a long way to go.”

SK Hynix suggested that production cuts for DRAM semiconductors could be eased in the first quarter. HD Hyundai Group Vice Chairman Jeong Ki-seon will take the stage for the CES 2024 keynote speech on the 10th. HD Hyundai will present future infrastructure construction technology that transcends the limits of time and space at this exhibition.
