His role as Vinh in “Paths near and far” that is about to air is introduced as a manipulative, unpredictable person, ready to destroy others for revenge. It seems like after the good, positive roles in recent films, this time you’re returning to your familiar villain?
– Actually, this character of mine is quite different. That’s why when I accepted this role, I proposed to director Mai Hien as well as the screenwriter to adjust and add new colors to the character, from personality or talent to portray an impressive character. most impressive, from which it is easy to gain the main character’s affection in his work or love.
What I find interesting is that the actors in this movie are all young and new faces, which is a plus point that makes the audience more attracted and curious. Furthermore, living in the atmosphere of a youthful and enthusiastic crew of young people makes me also feel younger, and the way I do my job is also newer than before.
Vinh is also a “lady killer” character as beautiful girls love him. Can you share more about your love story in this movie?
– My character is a talented, elegant and rich man. A guy like that is very difficult for girls to avoid temptation. My love story with the female actors in this movie also does not say that my character is a bad guy.
Because each girl in turn goes through life associated with a stage and milestone in the character’s life.
However, my acting space with Tra (Cu Thi Tra plays the female lead named Dong – PV) is more than with Bich Thuy (Yen – PV). Yen, played by Bich Thuy, is the first girl Vinh has had an unclear relationship, mixed between love and work.
It wasn’t until he met Dong that Vinh had a clearer love story. Two completely different colors, characters and story lines.
From the beginning, I also said that my role this time was not a big one and especially not the main character, but luckily the context and story of the film were concise and not spread out, which helped me in handling it. Manage personal work without affecting the film crew.

Cu Thi Tra is 15 years younger than you, do you feel like she is also “shaky” and facing a lot of pressure when paired with an actress with a lot of experience in both acting and love on screen like you?
– Almost every young actress who acted with me for the first time shared that they felt quite nervous. I also understand that, so I proactively support and help my co-actors balance their emotional state, then start acting.
I think, Tra is a young actor but has a serious work history, enthusiasm and outstanding qualities. That’s why, in the first few days of not getting used to it, Tra was a bit hesitant, but as time went on she became much more mature.
And up to this point, I believe Tra has fulfilled her role as a character. After the movie airs, only then can we confirm how the audience reacts to the movie and Tra’s character.
I also believe that the film is a “new dish”, strange colors for television audiences.
He once shared that the movies he acted in had to have sex scenes. What about this movie?
– Roads near and far It’s a movie about youth, so I don’t think it’s appropriate for a hot scene to appear.
However, the film will have many romantic scenes. I think, the audience or anyone with a romantic soul will love this movie.
Now that you have received the title of Meritorious Artist, is there any difference in your criteria for receiving film scripts?
– Up until now, my criteria have remained the same, that is, the character must have something that stays in the audience’s mind, the next character must be different from the previous character, and minimize the “colliding” characters.
