Amid escalating riots, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is increasing its arrests of convicted criminals. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has condemned recent attacks on Border Patrol vehicles and is blaming Democratic politicians for allegedly inciting violence against ICE agents.
The DHS reported that Border Patrol vehicles were “violently targeted during lawful operations” in Bell and Maywood, California.According to the DHS, one vehicle was rammed, and its tires were slashed. Another civilian struck a federal vehicle, totaling it. The driver was arrested for vehicular assault as a mob formed and continued slashing tires.
Homeland Security Secretary McLaughlin asserted that ICE agents risk their lives daily and accused Democrats of endangering them through what she described as demonizing rhetoric. She specifically called out several prominent Democrats.
McLaughlin said, “Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens. Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE. From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is despicable. This violence against ICE must end.”
The DHS also stated that family members of ICE agents are being targeted and doxxed, warning that those responsible will face prosecution.
The DHS emphasized that these actions would not deter them. “Secretary Noem’s message is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement read.
